The much needed rainfall delayed the digging today. It was tough to get too mad about it however as the natural rainfall was vital for my crops. In my haste to start with the show of progress I failed to inform many of the location of the new house. Here is an aerial view of the location (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.668435,-95.395682&spn=0.010436,0.027831&t=h&z=16). The other Sherlin house is in the lower left of the map on Mulligan Dr. Our lot is on the north end of the lake just to the right of the established house which is where John and Hannah Shirkey live. Also here is the link to the Trophy Lake Estates website http://www.trophylakeestates.com/. This is the beautiful community in which we will be living. We have spent a lot of time there over the last few years thanks to the many projects weve had the chance to help with at the Shirkey house and absolutely love it there. Heres to dry weather tomorrow so we can dig us a hole.
I only have two words for you, Farmer Josh:
ReplyDeleteSUGAR BEETS
Farmer Josh does not like beets but luckily his wife does so she planted them at the garden in town.
ReplyDeleteSugar beets sound like a good option. Then Id be able to shoot a deer from the front porch since the deer love the beets as well. Ill look into the prefered soil composition for sugar beets and get back to you.
ReplyDeleteYeah, just to chime in on the whole sugar beet thing--since I live in one of the most productive sugar beet areas--your soil doesn't look like it has enough clay. A little too dry. If you'd like to swap out some soil, I have some for you and I am sure I can find some left over from those famous clay dikes around here. I'd just ask for some of your soil in return so I could grow some decent flowers around my house.
ReplyDeleteHey, the hole looks pretty nice. Can't wait to see it this weekend.
I'm not sure about anyone else in the Sherlin family, but I am not a fan of beets and still a bit traumatized about the Beet Incident of '80 when the three of us were required to eat a jar of beets...it took two days. Have you considered soy beans?
ReplyDeleteProgress looks good. Can't wait to see it in person.
